POLLUTION AND WASTE

RECYCLING
There are two recycle centres that are located within our area of study, Ellesmere port and Frodsham recycling centres. They are both dealing with household waste recycling and are very important for the sustainability of the area .

LAND POLLUTION
The pollution map of the area is varied a lot due to the existence of different kind of industries,  and pollutants that they produce. It seems like there are not many major pollution incidents that were pointed in this map but there are many significant incidents which is expected ,  due to the heavy industrial activity of the site.

AIR POLLUTION
The main pollutants that appear in this map are carbon dioxide and dioxines ,  varying in levels depending on the location that they are adjacent to.

LANDFILL
Current  and historical authorised landfill sites are displayed on this map. The size and distribution of the landfill sites has clearly been changing and that is due to the introduction of new industries or expansion of some existing ones. It is also related to the development of various settlements around them.

FRODSHAM MARSH AREA LANDFILL
The final two maps are a zoomed in version of the overall Landfill map and it is focusing on the area of Frodsham marshes ( both for existing and historic). It is interesting to point the different licences that each landfill site has but also the distribution and location of them. The current landfill sites location is showing that there was more need for industrial waste closer to the river Weaver  due to the developing status of the Weston point industries. The Frodsham Marsh lagoon site is operated by Manchester Ship Canal Company CO LTD. and it has no access.Despite its polluted character ,  nature has recovered the land with a mass of wildflowers and grasses.
