INTRODUCTION TO THE SITE
FRODSHAM MARSHES
Our area is in the North West of the UK to the West of Runcorn.
It is defined by the mouth of the river weaver to the east, which marks the limit of the Mersey floodplain in this area.
The Ship Canal is separated from the Mersey by a low lying marshy area, Frodsham Marshes.
The landscape is characterised by remant agricultural land linked to historic settlements.
There is also large petro-chemical industrial plans.
The area is of interest to bird watchers, despite contamination issues from the surrounding industries.
